Overview
SpecLink Cloud received an important list of improvements and fixes on April 10, 2026.
Improvements
The following improvements were made to SpecLink Cloud:
Performance Enhancements
Many users have been reporting an increase in performance-related issues with SpecLink Cloud since the beginning of 2026. To resolve the issues, we are continuing to address and implement improvements to enhance performance and speed within SpecLink Cloud. We are working on the following improvements and will continue the improvements over the next several weeks to restore the performance experience for users. These improvements include:
- Dashboard Data Loading
- Linking-related
- Printing/Exporting
Links Do Not Populate the Links Menu with Overview (and Count) of Links
Many users have reported that opening the Sequence Manager then accessing the Links menu created slow responsiveness while the list of all links (and count of links) for the entire section appears. Since most users want to primarily review links only for a selected paragraph, or create links for a specific paragraph, we have removed the automatic loading of all links in the Links menu.
Users can still see all links for a section if desired by clicking "Show All Links" in the Links Menu.
Users can still create, edit, and review links for a paragraph by clicking the Link icon for the sequence paragraph found under the L (links) column.
Password Policy Update: Users Are Now Required to Use Strong Passwords
In order to strengthen the security of user accounts, increased password rules are being implemented. Currently, users can create passwords that are a minimum of 8 characters. Now, when users create or reset passwords, they will be required to use a minimum of 12 characters. Any existing passwords will continue to function, the 12 character minimum will go into effect on each user's next password change.
The specific rules for creating or resetting a password will be provided on the menu when users are setting their password.
Fixes
There are several fixes addressed in SpecLink Cloud v2026.1.15 as follows:
Reference Standards Corrections
Reference Standards Paragraphs Should Not Be Manually Selected
When users insert Reference Standard Segments into paragraphs, and the automated paragraph is created in under the Reference Standards Article, such paragraphs should be in neutral status. It has been discovered that the paragraphs were inserted and manually selected.
This has been corrected so that the neutral linking of the Reference Standard automation can function as intended.
Users Cannot Insert Full Reference Standards Paragraphs into Project
It has been discovered that, if a user turns off "Include References in Each Section" in Summary Info, then drags a reference standard segment to a paragraph, that the full Reference Standard paragraph was not being added under the Reference Standards article.
Users should see the full Reference Standard paragraphs appear regardless of whether "Include References in Each Section" is selected or not selected. This issue has been corrected.
Full Reference Standard Paragraphs are Not in Natural Sort Order
Some users have reported that the Reference Standard paragraphs under the Reference Standards article were not appearing in natural sort order. The sort order has been corrected.
Incorrect Link Created for Full Reference Standard Paragraphs when Reference Standard Segment is Dragged into Reference Standard Article
After a user has placed a reference segment into a paragraph, and the automated full Reference Standard paragraph has been added to the Reference Standards article, then attempting to place the same Reference Standard segment again would sometimes create a link that was not correct.
Now, the workflow of the proper placement, linking, and necessary messages to the user, function as intended.
Exporting Sections to Word
Cannot Export Sections to Word
It has been discovered that where Unicode characters exist in Section Titles, the sections could not be exported to Word format. Unicode characters are now supported and will not prevent export to Word.
All Text Draft Export to Word
Corrected the issue where some users have reported being unable to export All Text Drafts to Word.
Unable to Export Sections
It was discovered that, due to some invalid data in global terms, users were unable to export their sections. The issue has been corrected for such users, and the date picker for “date” type global terms has been verified and corrected. Additionally, some date picker global term issues were specific to some customers – the issue has been corrected globally and for the customers.
Linking Fixes
RE and ST Tags Do Not Work Consistently
When users have turned on "Include References in Each Section" and "Include Related Requirements" for their project (under Summary Info), then the article headings for REFERENCE STANDARDS and RELATED REQUIREMENTS should activate via linking.
Some users have reported that this does not work consistently for them. This issue has been corrected.
Default Choices Not Displaying Correctly When Links Are Involved
Corrected the issue where some choices were not displaying correctly when choice-to-choice links were involved.
Copy Section Workflow Causing Ghost Links
When a user copies a section, only valid links that should still function in the copy of the section should appear in the copy of the section. The following issues reported by customers have been corrected.
- “Ghost Links” refers to 1) links or parts of links that are visible but do not function, mainly because they should not be there; or 2) links that should be there and function but have “disappeared”.
- Source Links that should not be valid do not appear in the copy of the section (correct result), but some users reported cross section source links appearing that do not function (as seen in the Links menu, a Link icon, or a red/green/yellow link indicator with paragraphs).
- Target Links that should be valid do not appear in the copy of the section (incorrect result)—some users reported valid target links not appearing in the copy of the section.
Other Fixes
Multiple User Templates Have Duplicate Levels
For each template in SpecLink Cloud, there should be 9 levels per template (0, 1 thru 8). Some users have reported that some of their user templates contain duplicate levels in the Edit Template menu, making it difficult to edit the settings. This issue has been corrected.
Project Lock Inconsistencies
When a project is locked, sections should not be editable. It has been reported that some sections remain editable after the project was locked. This issue has been corrected so that all sections are locked with the project lock.
Track Changes Printing with Tables
Corrected the issue where track changes markups were printing in tables even when “No Track Changes” was selected in the Print menu.
Access to Shared Projects Has Been Lost
When a project owner shares a project to another SpecLink Cloud user (collaborator), the collaborator should retain share access unless the share is removed. We have corrected the issue where some users have reported losing shared access even when the share was not removed.
Calendar Date Option Not Appearing for Date-Related Global Terms
There are six global terms that should give a date picker pop-up calendar for users to select a date as the global term value. We have corrected the issue where the date picker was not appearing for the global term Date of Substantial Completion.
Changing a Licensed User to a License Manager Does Not Free Up the License
Users can designate a user as a License Manager so that user can manage all users on the SpecLink Cloud account – without consuming a seat of the SpecLink Cloud subscription. However, some users are reporting that the seat count remains unchanged after switching a user to a License Manager, where it should have gone down by 1. This issue has been corrected.
Various Code and Data Fixes Applied
Various code and data fixes that are project-specific or customer-specific, along with system security updates, have been applied since the previous SpecLink Cloud release.
