New Features
The following improvements were made to SpecLink Cloud:
- Choice Visualization: Compressed vs. Expanded View of Choices
- Open Sections from the BIM Details Page
Choice Visualization: Compressed vs. Expanded View of Choices
Users can now control how multi-option Choice Fields are displayed in a SpecLink Cloud section through a new compressed/expanded view toggle in the Settings tab. This new option will be toggled OFF by default.
The current Compressed view shows only the currently selected choice option(s), while the new Expanded view shows all options with the full choice highlighted by a light blue background. The light blue background indicates the full extent of an Expanded Choice view, including when inline within a paragraph.
Compressed View:
New Expanded View:
The Expanded view renders both multiple-select and single-select choice fields with radio buttons or checkboxes to the left of each option. It is important to note that due to the length and complexity of some choice fields, it is expected that there will be uneven paragraph wrapping while using Expanded view.
- Single enhanced text types such as Global Terms and Section ID’s will continue to view without the Enhanced Text visualization.
- The functionality of the choices, as well as how they print and export, remains unchanged.
Open Sections from the BIM Details Page
A faster way to open sections when working in the BIM details tab has been added. Now users can now open SpecLink Cloud sections directly from the BIM Details tab by right-clicking on a Section ID or Section Title to prompt the "Open in a new tab" option. This streamlines moving from a Revit element into the corresponding specification content without leaving the BIM workflow.
The ability to right-click on a Section ID/Title in the BIM Details tab to "Open in New Tab" option will appear in all BIM Details windows: Suggested Sections, Linked Sections, and All Sections.
It is important to note that section access restrictions and editing access restrictions are still enforced. Users can only open sections they have permission to view, and users can only edit sections they have permission to edit.
Enhancements
Enhancements that have been made to SpecLink Cloud include:
- Streamlined Show All Links
- Maritime Added as a Project Type Option
- Widow/Orphan Option Relocated for Layout Consistency
Streamlined Show All Links
For a faster loading experience when viewing links in the Sequence Manager, the Links pane no longer populates an overview and count of total links immediately when a section is opened, but will wait for user access to load the Show All Links view. The confirmation prompt before showing all links has also been removed.
Maritime Added as a Project Type Option
The Project Type list for Projects and Office Masters now includes Maritime as an option, broadening the project classification options for users in maritime-focused work. Maritime has been added to all filtering options on the SpecLink Cloud Dashboard as well.
Maritime is selectable as a Project Type on new projects and existing Projects and Office Masters can be adjusted to Maritime in the Summary Info.
Widow/Orphan Option Relocated for Layout Consistency
In the Print Menu's Document Drafts tab, the Widow/Orphan option has been moved so its placement matches where it is located in the Documents tab, making the page layout setting easier to find and more consistent across tabs.
Fixes
The following fixes have been made to SpecLink Cloud:
Format Changing When a Specific Section Is Deactivated
Corrected a customer-reported issue where deactivating a specific section caused print formatting for the entire Division 00 to render incorrectly.
Form Font Size Changing Unexpectedly on Import
Addresses a customer-reported issue where font sizes in a Form increased inconsistently and unexpectedly during import and subsequent editing, without any user-applied formatting changes.
Text Between Global Terms in Forms Disappears
Resolves an issue where text typed between Global Terms in a Form was lost after the section was refreshed. Text typed between Global Terms now persists after refreshing the page.
Header/Footer “Capitalize Each Word” Issue on Section Name Keyword
Addresses an issue affecting some customers where the Section Name keyword in headers and footers ignored the applied Capitalize Each Word formatting and instead inherited the source section's capitalization. Capitalize Each Word formatting now applies correctly to the Section Name keyword in headers and footers.
Renaming Folders and Files Issue in the Document Library
Addresses the issue where attempting to rename a folder or document in the Document Library returned an error. Folder and document rename now succeeds in the Document Library.
Cut/Paste of Formatted Text into the Choice List
Users reported they were unable to paste text with attributes into a Choice List. Cutting and pasting bold, italic, or underlined text into a Choice List returned an invalid error. The Choice List paste now accepts formatted text without error and renders it as plain text as expected.
Keyword Not Previewing or Printing in Header
Addresses an issue where a configured keyword in the Header did not display correctly in preview or print output. Header keyword now previews and prints expected.
Pending Updates - Reference Standard Update Count
To ensure the pending update count on the Section List icon more accurately shows when a section has pending updates for Reference Standards, the update count calculation for Reference Standards has been refactored so the count is calculated reliably across the full range of Reference Standard-related operations.
Single Section Exports Now Export as PDF
Resolves a customer-reported issue where exporting a single section to PDF (from Documents or Document Drafts) produced a .zip file instead of a single PDF. Single-section exports now produce a single PDF file directly, without the .zip wrapper.
Users With a Hyphen in Their Name Can Now Be Added/Updated
Resolves a customer-reported issue where new users with a hyphenated name could not be added, and existing users with a hyphenated name could not be updated. Hyphenated names are now accepted on both user creation and update.
Correction for Import From Project “Sections Already Exist” Message
Resolves a customer-reported issue where Import from Project reported that sections already existed in the target project when they did not. Import from Project now correctly identifies which sections already exist in the target project, without false positives.
Various Code and Data Fixes Applied
Various code and data fixes that are project- or customer-specific have been applied since the previous SpecLink Cloud release.
