- Display of Link Information for Choice Links
- Highlighting of Non-Printing and Non-Selectable Paragraphs
Sequence Manager/Column Improvements
In this SpecLink Cloud update, many different aspects of the Sequence Manager and the associated columns were improved upon.
- Show/Hide Columns Toolbar Option
- View All Columns at the Same Time
- "Show/Hide Columns" Display with the Currently Selected Sequence Manager Option
- Separate the "Report" and "View" Columns
- Open Sequence Manager Panels by Clicking on Column Icons
- Add Tooltips to Sequence Manager Columns
Show/Hide Columns Toolbar Option
Users will now be able to customize which information columns appear, so that they can conveniently see and interact with all relevant information for each paragraph within a section as needed.
The "Show/Hide Columns" feature allows users to determine which columns are displayed, regardless of whether or not the Sequence Manager panel is open. When the Sequence Manager is open, the "Show/Hide Column" feature will not be accessible until the Sequence Manager is closed. Click here for more information on using the "Show/Hide Columns" feature.
View All Columns at the Same Time
When selecting all options in the "Show/Hide Columns" feature, all columns will remain visible, even when opening the Sequence Manager.
"Show/Hide Columns" Display with the Currently Selected Sequence Manager Option
When opening the Sequence Manager and selecting either the Links, Notes, or Tags option; the correct column will display alongside any selected columns in the "Show/Hide Columns" feature.
Separate the "Report" and "View" Columns
Users are now able to use the "Slow/Hide Column" tool to display the Report column without the View column (and vice-versa) to reduce screen clutter with columns they do not actively need.
Open Sequence Manager Panels by Clicking on Column Icons
With either the Links or Notes column open, users can now access the Links or Notes Sequence Manager panels with as few clicks as possible. Clicking directly on the Link icon or Note icon in a column will open the Sequence Manager to the associated panel.
Add Tooltips to Sequence Manager Columns
Descriptions of each column now appear when users hover their mouse over the column headers.
Tooltip and Associated Icons for Master and User Links
Users can now see all of a paragraph's source and target links without needing to navigate to different paragraphs. The display of links with choice fields has been also been improved. Previously, the only options to view link information were Paragraph (P), Cross-Section (CS), or Choice (C). Now, the Choice Link icon and tooltip will display more information about which type of link it is, for both Master and User links.
If a choice field is involved on either side of the link, source or target, users are now able to see which choice option is involved with the link:
- C2P for a Choice to Paragraph Link
- C2C for a Choice to Choice Link
- P2C for a Paragraph to Choice Link
Display of Link Information for Choice Links
When creating or viewing Choice Field Links, in the Linking Panel it will now show which Choice option is selected for each link. This change has been applied to both Master and user links.
Highlighting of Non-Printing and Non-Selectable Paragraphs
Previously in SpecLink Cloud, Non-Printing and Non-Selectable Paragraphs were only identifiable by opening the Tags panel in the Sequence Manager, or by attempting to activate a paragraph to get the "Non-Printing/Selectable Paragraph warning pop up. With this release, both non-printing paragraphs (tagged NP) and non-selectable paragraphs (tagged NS) are clearly identified in the SpecLink Cloud user interface, shown by a series of dots.
There will also be a tooltip pop up when hovering the mouse over a Non-Printing or Non-Selectable Paragraph.
Enhancements
Enhancements that have been made to SpecLink Cloud include:
- Linking Enhancements
- Notification Alerting Users if they do not have Permission to Access the Notes Panel
- Implement New VIM (BIM) Extractor to Increase Successful BIM Uploads
- Verify Labels and Data in the Elements Details of the BIM Dashboard
Linking Enhancements
The following enhancements focus on links and the process for creating links.
- Speed Up Completion of Links Activations
- Fewer Steps Required when Creating a Link
- Opening the Links Panel and Creating New Links with One Click
- Add a "Select Choice List" Button to the Focus Paragraph in the Links panel
- When Editing Links, the Links panel should say "Edit" instead of "Create New"
Linking: Speed Up Completion of Links Activations
Improvements have been made to speed up the activation of cross-section links.
Linking: Fewer Steps Required when Creating a Link
This enhancement allows users to create a link with as few clicks as possible by skipping steps when creating links. This is achieved by setting and applying default values for certain steps. The default values can be changed at any time during the link creation process by the user.
When clicking on "Click to add source/target," Link Type defaults to Paragraph (P) and Link Color defaults to Green (Activate).
- When creating a target or source link, if the paragraph has a choice field, it will have option to select the choice field as the target or source (even if choice type is currently Paragraph).
- If user selects choice as target or source, Paragraph (P) will change to Choice (C) automatically.
Linking: Opening the Links Panel and Creating New Links with One Click
Opening the links panel to begin the Link creation process has been streamlined. Simply clicking on the link icon in the L (Links) column will open the Links panel for that paragraph.
If a paragraph does not have a link associated with it already, there is now also a "Create New Link" icon that appears in the L (Links) column that will open the Links Panel and autofill the sequence number, instead of having to drag and drop. Users can use this one-click alternative at any point during the link-creation process when setting the focus paragraph.
Linking: Add a "Select Choice List" Button to the Focus Paragraph in the Links panel
Users now have the option of selecting a Choice Field as the origin for a Link being created, as long as the Focus paragraph contains a Choice Field. This option will show for both multiple choice fields and checkbox choice fields.
A "Select Choice List" should appear and function in the focus paragraph section of the Links panel, just as it does when a sequence number is dragged and dropped into the Link panel.
Linking: When Editing User Links, the Links Panel now says "Edit" instead of "Create New"
Currently, when clicking on a User link, users see an option to “Create New” at the top of the edit menu. Now in the Links panel, when clicking on an existing user link, it will read "Edit a source link" or "Edit a target link" depending on the link type being edited.
Notification Alerting Users if they do not have Permission to Access the Notes Panel
Currently, users who do not have permissions to access the Notes Panel who click the Notes icon have nothing visually happen, which has caused some confusion. Now, following the same implementation that Links and Tags have, a User clicking the Notes icon without permission (for either a Project or a Master Note), there will be a pop-up notification that reads "You do not have access to this feature. Please contact your System Manager(s)” for clarity.
Implement New VIM (BIM) Extractor to Increase Successful BIM Uploads
The utility used to process Revit models into SpecLink Cloud has been updated. This update should show an increase in the success rate of Revit model uploads to SpecLink Cloud.
Verify Labels and Data in the Elements Details of the BIM Dashboard
When a user opens a Revit model through the SpecLink Cloud Virtual Model Viewer, they can click on an element and see details of the element:
Users can also click on an element in the BIM Files dashboard in a SpecLink Cloud Project and see a list of details:
In the past, the SpecLink Cloud details card was difficult to match up to the Virtual Model Viewer details card. The SpecLink Cloud details card has been clarified to help users see a match between the Virtual Model Viewer details and SpecLink Cloud details cards.
