Performing an Exclusion Search in SpecLive Impact

Overview

An exclusion search allows a manufacturer to quickly find companies that are not specifying their products.

An exclusion search combines:

• Manufacturer search option
• OR and NOT Boolean search tools
• Grouping ( ) search feature

Steps to Perform an Exclusion Search

Follow the steps below to perform an exclusion search.

1. Use the Section Filter to narrow the search to your desired division, subdivision, or section.
   
   
   
   
2. Review the date range settings to match your needs.
   
   
   
   
3. Click the Search Builder button at the end of the Simple Search bar. 
   
   
   
   
4. Enter each manufacturer (competitor) using the OR boolean operator between each manufacturer (competitor).
   
   
   
   
5. Select all manufacturers (competitors) using shift/select.
   
   
   
   
6. Using the grouping parenthesis ( ), group the entries.
   
   
   
   
   
   
7. Add the NOT search tool.
   
   
   
   
8. Enter your company using the manufacturer boolean search operator.
   
   
   
   
9. Review the results within the Company and Project Activities tabs.
