SpecLive has robust searching tools allowing you to combine options and filters to define and perform searches. Review the Basic Searching article before diving into advanced searching.
This article will detail the advanced search tools of SpecLive.
Comparative Searching
As detailed in the basic searching article, searches are built by entering search options and Boolean operators into the search field. Multiple searches can be built and then compared.
Follow these steps the compare searches.
- Construct a basic search such as the one depicted below.
Note the number "1" next to the search field.
- Once a search has been built in the search field, click the "+" button below the search field.
This action will invoke a Compare button as well as a new search entry field labeled number "2".
- Populate this field with search criteria you want to compare to the first search. The image below depicts a comparative of two manufacturers.
- Click the Search button to run the search.
Group Search Options
Search options can be grouped to create a single option using parenthesis.
Follow the steps below to use the grouping feature.
- Create a basic search like the one depicted below.
- Hold the Shift key down and select each option of the search. Each option will become blue as depicted below.
- The grouping parenthesis will appear in the Search Build Operator Field.
Note the ability to "ungroup" will be available as well.
- Click the Group tool. Parenthesis will appear around the selected search options.
- Continue adding search options as needed and run the search.
