Overview
SpecLink Cloud utilizes the WebSpellChecker Proofreader from WebSpellChecker, LLC. Below we've outlined the use of the tool within SpecLink Cloud. Click here to access the latest WebSpellChecker Proofreader User Manual.
The spell checking tool is located in the SpecLink Cloud Toolbar.
Steps for checking the spelling within a section
Follow these steps to check the spelling in the current section.
- From within a section, click on the Spelling & Grammar icon from the SpecLink Cloud Toolbar pictured below.
- To activate the spell checker, click the keyboard icon labeled "Spell Checker".
The Spell Checker icon is a toggle and will turn blue when activated.
- Allow the spell check to run, then click the blue check mark labeled "Spellings" to view a count of misspelled words.
- At any time, click the Refresh button to refresh the spell check for the section.
- Any incorrectly spelled words within the section will be underlined in a squiggly red line.
- Hover your cursor over a misspelled word to access the spell checker menu.
- A list of suggested correct spellings will appear in the menu. If the correct spelling of the word appears in the list, select it to correct the spelling of the word in the section.
- If the word is actually spelled correctly and is not included in the dictionary of the spell checker, you can add the word by clicking the "Add word" option.
WebSpellChecker Settings
Review the settings from the WebSpellChecker by clicking on Settings from the spell checker menu.
Settings will allow for the review and update of the options, languages, dictionaries, and about (basic information) the spell checking tool.
Options
Options available are:
- Ignore all-caps words: by default this option is not selected.
- Ignore domain names: this option is selected by default.
- Ignore words with mixed case: this option is selected by default.
- Ignore words with numbers: this option is selected by default.
Languages
Review the list of languages available in the image below. The default language for SpecLink Cloud is American English.
Dictionaries
Dictionaries allows the user to create a new dictionary and/or connect to an existing custom dictionary.
About
The About area allows you to review the current version of the tool.

As of 4/23/21, this is inaccurate. The icon for spell check is a capital A with a checkmark.
