Overview
Multiple versions of a Revit Model can be compared to see what elements have been added, modified, or removed. The synced Revit Models must have the same file name and must be synced to the same project.
Steps to Compare Revit Models
In order to utilize the Compare feature with Revit Models, multiple versions of the same file must be uploaded to the same project. Review the steps to sync Revit Models here.
When an updated version of the same file is ready to by synced, follow the same steps using the SpecLink Revit Plug-In to sync the file to the project.
- Sync a Revit Model to attach the file to a project. Review the steps to sync a Revit Model here.
- Repeat step 1 with an updated version of the Revit file. This updated version must have the same file name and be synced to the same project.
- Access the BIM Files of the specified project.
- The Version column will display a "V" for version, followed by the number of versions of the file. The image below indicates a V2 showing that there are 2 versions of the synced model.
- Click the version indicator, in the example above, "V2".

The file list will expand and display the files that can be compared.
- Click the Compare BIM Files button.
- Select the file you want to compare to the most recent version.
- Select the category for comparison, or choose All.
When the category or categories have been selected, the Run Compare button will be active in the bottom right corner.
- Review the elements that have been added, modified, or removed.
