Inserting Sheet Specs into AutoCAD®

Overview

SpecLink Cloud provides the ability to generate Sheet Specs in PDF format from the print menu within a project. This Sheet Specs output can then be inserted into Revit or AutoCAD®.

This process will place the Sheet Spec in a Layout tab in paper space within AutoCAD®. The steps are the same if you are using model space with the exception of step 5 below.

Steps to Insert Sheet Specs into an AutoCAD® file.

Follow the steps below to insert a Sheet Spec PDF from SpecLink Cloud into AutoCAD® (version 2021).

1. From the Insert tab within the AutoCAD® file, select PDF Import.
2. In the Select PDF File dialog box, select the PDF generated by SpecLink Cloud and click Open.
3. In the Import PDF dialog box, select the page of PDF you wish to import in the Page to Import area on the left.
4. In the Location area of the Import PDF dialog box select Specify insertion point on-screen.
5. MODEL SPACE USERS ONLY - In the Location area of the Import PDF dialog box set the scale factor to 12.
6. In the PDF Data to Import area of the PDF Import dialog box select the following options:

• • Vector Geometry with solid fills
  • True Type Text
  • Raster Images

7. Select OK to close the Import PDF dialog box.
8. Select a point representing the lower left hand corner of the PDF to place the PDF on the sheet.
