Overview
Format templates set the visual attributes for the Project and Section such as fonts and character size, case and alignment. By default, the CSI Format is the system template set for all projects. You can select another system template for the project as well as select a different template for a specific section. You also have display options for the Section Number & Title.

Utilizing Predefined Format Templates
SpecLink Cloud is equipped with 6 predefined industry standard format templates for use, as well as the ability to create and customize user defined templates.
From the SpecLink Cloud document toolbar click "CSI Format" as pictured below. The CSI Format is the default format template in SpecLink Cloud. The format template menu will appear allowing you to choose a template for the section.

Font: Arial - 10pts
Numbering: 1.01 - A - 1. - a. - 1) - Military Format
Font: Arial - 10pts
Numbering: 1.1 - 1.1.1 - a. - (1) - (a) - Block Format
Font: Arial - 10 points
Levels 0 & 1 are UPPER CASE
Levels 0, 1, & 2 are Bold
Numbering: No numbering - after level 2 each level is indented. - Sequential Numbering Format
Font: Arial - 10 points
Levels 0 & 1 are UPPER CASE
Levels 0, 1, & 2 are Bold
Numbering: No numbering - Levels 0-3 are on same level, then each level is indented. - AIA Format
Font: Times New Roman- 11 points
Levels 0 & 1 are UPPER CASE
Numbering: 1.01 - 1.01A - 1. - a. - 1) - CSC Format
Font: Times New Roman- 11 points
Levels 0 is UPPER CASE
Numbering: n/a, - 1, - .1, - .1
These predefined format templates cannot be edited, but can be duplicated for editing.
Selecting a Project and Section Template
The default Project and Section format template is CSI Format. A user can select a different template by accessing the menu and selecting a different format template. When performing this action, the user can apply a format to the project, and the individual section if need be.
- Click on CSI Format (in blue below) from the SpecLink Cloud Toolbar to access the format template menu.
- Click the arrow corresponding to the desired format template.
- Select the appropriate option of Apply to Section or Apply to Project. In this example, we have CSI Format as the Project template and we will apply the Military Format to this Section.
When two format templates are being utilized, the format menu will appear as below indicating the Project format as well as the Section format. - To set this section back to the Project default, in this case the CSI Format, simply click the CSI Format and select Apply to Section.
When the section has been set back to the project default, the templates menu will appear with only a Project default template.
Section Number & Title Options
Although the predefined format templates cannot be edited, the user can select a display option for the Section Number and Section Title. This options is due to the fact that many users enter the Section Number & Title in the header or footer.
- Click on CSI Format (in blue below) from the SpecLink Cloud Toolbar to access the format template menu.
- Click Edit... from the templates menu.
- The Templates window will open. From the Templates window locate the SECTION NUMBER/TITLE menu. This is the only visual change available for the predefined format templates listed above.
Here you can choose between four options:
- <Section #> - <Section Title>: The Section Number and Title will appear on the same line.
- <Section #> <Skip Line> <Section Title>: An empty line will appear between the Section Number and Title.
- <Section Title>: Only the Section Title will appear.
- (none): No Section Number or Title will appear. This is normally selected when the Section Number and Title will be displayed in the header or footer.

The Edit Template flyout could use some adjusting to the font style so if you hover it shows entire font name, or expand so entire name is visible...
