Overview
Sections are the actual specification documents you will activate and edit into the project. This article will focus on the methods of activating sections into a project. Learn more about the ways to view sections by reviewing the Viewing Sections article as well as the Viewing and Activating Sections Video.
Activating Sections
Sections can be activated into a project using one of two methods:
Method #1: Activate the section(s) from the Sections List
Click the selection box next to the name of the section. This activates the section within your project but does not access the section.
Notice in the image below that section "081113 – RIB – Hollow Metal Doors and Frames" has been activated into the project.
Using this method, multiple sections can be activated at the same time. Simply click the selection box next to each of the sections to be activated.
Notice in the image below that certain sections are active (selection box has check mark) and others are in process of being activated (spinner is in the selection box).
When multiple sections have been selected for activation in this method, the Section Activation Queue will appear in the top right corner of the SpecLink Cloud window.
This queue will display the number of sections currently awaiting activation or in the process of activation.
Method #2: Activate the section from the Section Title
Click on the name of the section within the Sections List. The image below depicts the cursor over an unactivated section. Clicking the name of the section will access it, not activate it.
Remember that sections can be opened in multiple browser tabs. Right click on the section title within the Sections list and select Open in New Tab.
Once the section is open, activate the title of the section by clicking on its sequence number.
The section title sequence number will always be "0000". The image below displays a section title not yet activated.
The image below displays the same section title after the sequence number has been clicked thereby activating the section.
These methods allow the user to work the way they want. The user can work their way through the Sections List, activating the required sections by clicking on the checkbox next to the name of the section or they can access one section at a time by clicking on the name of the section in the Sections List, then clicking on its sequence number of the section title ("0000").

Is there a way to toggle multiple sections at once, similar to shift + select? For example, if I wanted to activate all Division 23 sections, is that possible without toggling each section one-by-one in that division?
No reply? This is something that definitely needs to be addressed, Speclink.
Hi,
Currently, sections are activated by either selecting them from the Sections List, or by activating sequence 0000 after accessing the section. Please reach out to our Support team when you have a moment to discuss the possibility of adding the feature to allow all sections in a sub-division or division to be activated. Support can determine if this request has come through or if it needs to be written.
The use of an Office Master project can solve many of these activation issues. Keeping your office master updated, then copying that office master to create new projects saves the time of activating sections you know you already need.
Thanks! Gary Christensen
