Understanding the RT (Reference Title) or RS (Reference Text Segment) tags:
The Reference Title (RT) and Reference Text Segment (RS) tags are utilized to apply the SpecLink Cloud automation to Reference Standards within a section. Using the RT tag in line with the paragraph heading "Reference Standards" will tell all the individual Reference Standards within the section where to organize themselves. This automation is built into all RIB sections, but applying the RT tag to the "Reference Standards" paragraph in a user section will function the same way.
The Reference Text Segment (RS) tag should not need to be applied by the user directly. As long as the RT tag is already applied as mentioned above, when adding a Reference Standard to the section through the Reference Standards Panel in the Document Manager, the automation will take over adding the RS tag to the paragraph, creating a new paragraph under the "Reference Standards" paragraph for the newly added Reference Standard, and creating a paragraph link between the two paragraphs.
Steps to applying the RT (Reference Title) tag:
Follow the steps below to tag a paragraph as RT (Reference Title) to begin the Reference Standards automation process in a section:
- From within a specification section, locate the paragraph that will be tagged RT (Reference Title) where all the RS (Reference Text Segment) paragraphs will be organized.
- Click the Sequence Manager located on the left side of the editing window.
- Click the Tags link to access the Tags menu.
The Tags menu will appear on the left side of the editing window...
...and the Tags column will appear in the specification section editing window:
Please refer to the Show/Hide Columns option in the SpecLink Cloud Toolbar to hide other columns as needed.
- Place the cursor where the RT tag will be added.
- When applying the RT (Reference Title) tag, the paragraph should line up with the Reference Standards Paragraph in Part 1 General of the section from step 1.
- When applying the RT (Reference Title) tag, the paragraph should line up with the Reference Standards Paragraph in Part 1 General of the section from step 1.
-
Right-click to access the tags.
- Scroll to find References Title tag or enter RT into the search field and select it.
- The paragraph has now been set to RT (Reference Title) and all the RS tagged Reference Standards within the section will automatically organize themselves here when added.
