Overview
Report Tags determine which paragraphs will appear in a selected report. There are two types of Report Tags: Master RIB Report Tags and User Report Tags. Learn more about Master RIB Report Tags here.
This article focuses on the creation and management of User Report Tags.
Please review Tagging Basics before creating User Tags.
Creating User Tags
User tags are created by the user. Follow the steps below to create a User tag.
- Access a Project, then a Section within the Project.
- Click the Sequence Manager tab on the left side of the screen.
- Access the Tags menu by clicking the Tags option from the Sequence Manager.
- From the Tags menu, click the Create a new User Tag icon.
- The Create a New User Tag window will open. Enter a name for the new tag in the Tag Name Field. Note the "U" next the Tag Name field.
- The image below displays a new user tag named "Factory Certificate". SpecLink Cloud will assign "FC" as the tag label. Click into the tag label field to customize the tag label. If the label already exists, you'll be asked to enter a unique tag label. The tag label has a 24 character limit.
- Click Save to create the new user tag. In the Tags menu, User tags appear with a "U" to the right of the tag title as pictured below.
Adding Tags to Paragraphs
The Reports column in the sections window displays the tags added to each paragraph.
Follow the steps below to add a tag to a paragraph.
- If the paragraph you want to tag has no current tags, RIGHT-CLICK where a tag would be within the Report column.
If the paragraph has a tag or tags, right-click on one of the tags.
- The Add Report Tag menu appears. Search for and select a tag from the list.
- Click on the desired tag and it will appear in the Reports column, next to the desired paragraph. In the image below, I've clicked on the Certificate tag. Tags added by the user will appear with a dark background and a white font.
- LEFT-CLICK (normal click) to add the same tag to a subsequent paragraph. This feature was added to increase the speed of tagging paragraphs.
It's important to note that multiple tags can be added to a given paragraph.
Editing User Tags
User tags can be edited. Follow the steps below to edit a User tag.
- From the Tags menu of the Sequence Manager, locate the User tag to be edited.
- Hover over the tag name and click on the pencil icon.
- Make any desired edits to the tag name or tag label. Tag labels can be 24 characters in length.
Deleting User Tags
User tags can be deleted if they are not in use by any project. RIB Master Tags can not be deleted.
The role permission for deleting user tags is defaulted to the Manager.
Follow the steps below to edit a User tag.
- From the Tags menu of the Sequence Manager, locate the User tag to be deleted.
- Hover over the tag name and click on the delete (trash can) icon.
A user tag cannot be deleted if it is in use in a non-archived project or office master.
If a user deletes a tag that is used in an archived project or office master, the tag will be restored automatically when the project or office master is unarchived.
The default role for this feature is Manager.
