Overview
Within SpecLink Cloud, images can be added to sections, notes, headers/footers, and tables. Images can also be directly imported in with the Section itself with the Import from Word feature.

Image Specifications
The following image types can be inserted into SpecLink Cloud:
- Joint Photographic Expert Group image (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe)
- Portable Network Graphics (.png)
- Web Picture (.webp)
- Windows Bitmap (.bmp)
- Graphics Interchange Format (.gif)
Additionally, images brought into SpecLink Cloud have the following limitations:
- The image file cannot be larger than 1MB
- Cannot have dimensions above 600 by 600 pixels. Images that are larger than these dimensions can still be uploaded, but will be scaled down to fit.
- Cannot have dimensions below 50 by 50 pixels. Images that are smaller than these dimensions can still be uploaded, but will be scaled up to fit.
- When uploading to the Header/Footer, the dimensions limitations are a maximum 150 by 150 pixels and a minimum 20 by 20 pixels. The image file cannot be larger than 300 KB.
Resizing an Image
Once an image has been uploaded into SpecLink Cloud, it can be resized to fit various circumstances. Follow the steps below to resize an image:
- Click on the image to reveal the image resize tool.
- Click on the image resize tool icon
to open up the resize image dimensions menu.
- Type in the required dimensions for the image and then click "Update".
The image will now be resized.
Note: When resizing images in Project Notes, the image resize tool is not available. Resizing note images can be performed by clicking on them to show the corner dots for manual dragging resizing.
Deleting an Image
Follow the steps below to delete an existing image image in SpecLink Cloud:
- Click on the image to reveal the image removal icon.
- Click on the image removal icon
and the image will be deleted. Note: There is no confirmation message for deleting images.
Note: When deleting images in Project Notes, the image removal tool is not available. To delete an image in a Project Note, place the cursor in front of the image and press the "backspace" key, just as if deleting text.
Uploading an Image within a Specification Section
Follow the steps below to upload an image into a specification section:
- Within a section, either create a new user paragraph for the image location, or place the cursor in the paragraph above where the image is going to be located. Images cannot be in the middle of paragraphs.
- Locate and click on the Insert Image tool on the SpecLink Cloud Toolbar.
- Once clicked on, a dropdown menu will appear where an image file can be drag and dropped into the dotted box, or simply click on the box, or upload cloud icon to open up the File Explorer to located the image to be uploaded.
- Once uploaded, the image will appear in the specification section. Please note, that paragraphs with images automatically remove any auto-numbering for that paragraph.
Uploading an Image within a Project Note
Follow the steps below to upload an image into a project note:
- Please review steps for creating or editing a project note in the related guide article before beginning.
- Open the Project note edit/creation menu from the Sequence Manager to display all the tools associated with the project note where the image will be uploaded.
- Within the text of the Project Note, place the cursor where the image is going to be located. Unlike when uploading to a Specification Section, images can be in the middle of paragraphs.
- Click the Image icon above the project note text box.
- Once clicked on, a dropdown menu will appear where an image file can be drag and dropped into the dotted box, or simply click on the box, or upload cloud icon to open up the File Explorer to located the image to be uploaded.
- Once uploaded, the image will now appear within the project note.
Uploading an Image within the Header / Footer
Before beginning to upload an image within the Header/Footer in SpecLink Cloud, it is important to note that the uploaded image size limit is much smaller, 300 KB. Once uploaded, an image in the Header/Footer is also limited to a maximum size of 150x150 px and a minimum size of 20x20 px.
Follow the steps below to upload an image into a header or footer:
- Please review the basics of the Header and Footer tools in the related guide article before beginning.
- Open the Project Settings Header/Footer menu from the SpecLink Cloud Toolbar to display current Header/Footer.
- In the Header/Footer editing window, place the cursor where the desired image will be uploaded. Using the tables to organize the left, center, and right portions of the Header/Footer will also work for keeping an uploaded image in the correct location.
- Once the location of the image has been determined, click on the image icon on the Header/Footer toolbar.
- Once clicked on, a dropdown menu will appear where an image file can be drag and dropped into the dotted box, or simply click on the box, or upload cloud icon to open up the File Explorer to located the image to be uploaded.
- Once uploaded, the image will now appear in the Header/Footer.
