Overview
When exporting a document or report to PDF or DOCX, the option to customize the file name(s) is now available, eliminating the need to edit file names after exporting.
The File Name Format Settings button is located in the lower left corner of the Print Menu.
Once you have saved your file name settings for a project, these settings will be applied automatically to all sections and reports exported from that project in the future.
Steps to Customize File Names
Follow these steps to customize file names when exporting a document or report to PDF or DOCX. As you move through these steps refer to the Example field at the bottom of the menu that displays the current selections.
- From within a section click the Print icon in the SpecLink Cloud toolbar.
- In the Print Menu, click the File Name Format Settings button located in the lower left corner.
The File Name Format Settings tool will open. - Select to customize specification section documents or project reports.
- Click to select a field from the Available Fields pane on the left, such as the Section ID.
- Once selected, use the appropriate arrow to move the field to the Selected Fields pane on the right.
- Using the up/down arrows, move the selected field to the desired location within the Selected Fields pane.
- Use the Separator pull down menu to select an option (dash, space, or none) to separate the fields in the file name.
- Place a check in the Include Author in Section ID check box if the Author acronym is to be displayed with the Section ID in the file name.
- Review the Example field at the bottom of the menu to view the current selections.
- Click the blue OK button to save the format.
Click Cancel to discard any changes.
Remember to refer to the Example field at the bottom of the menu to view the current selections.
Once you have saved your file name settings for a project, these settings will be applied automatically to all sections and reports exported from that project in the future.
