Overview
The Table of Contents Section 000110 in the front end only has links to RIB sections. Links to user sections will need to be added manually.
It's not necessary to link user sections that will only be used once.
User sections that will be used repeatedly, as in the case of those added to Office Masters, should be linked. Cross section links are used to link a user section to the Table of Contents Section 000110.
Before a user section can be linked to the Table of Contents Section 000110, it will need to be added into the TOC. Learn how to add a user section to the Table of Contents here.
Steps to Link a User Section to the Table of Contents
Follow the steps below to link a user section to the Table of Contents Section 000110.
- Add the user section to the Table of Contents. Review the full article here or watch the video here.
- From the Sections List, access the user section to be linked.
- From within the user section, click to expand the Sequence Manager on the left side of the screen.
- From the Sequence Manager menu, click Links.
- Click the Create New Link Button.
The Create New Link window will appear.
- Drag and drop the user section title (sequence number 0000) into the links window. The example below is a user section "015526 - Traffic Control".
- Click the "+" sign next to Click to add a target link....
The Add a New Target Link window will open to default settings. There are 3 steps to the linking menu. Step 1 involved selecting the link type and the link color.
- Use the Link Type dropdown menu to change to a Cross Section Link.
A "CS" indicating a cross section link will appear in the link type box.
- Since the default link is a green, changing this is not needed. If the link color is not showing, use the Link Color menu to choose the activate action (green).
- When selecting a Cross Section link is complete, Step 2 automatically triggers and directs you to select a section from the dropdown Section Menu.
The Section Menu pictured below opens to the above the links window.
- Select the "000110 - RIB - Table of Contents" section from the Section Menu. Once selected, the Table of Contents section displays the selection in step 2 of the links window.
- After selecting "000110 - RIB - Table of Contents" in step 2, SpecLink Cloud will automatically open the selected section. From the Section, locate the user section that has been manually added to the Table of Contents and drag and drop the sequence number of the target paragraph to step 3 of the links window.
The image below displays the sequence number 0122 dropped in as the target sequence number.

- When you are satisfied the link is complete, click Save.
The new link will appear in the list of target links with a U indicating that it is a User created link.
- Upon clicking Save, a pop up message will ask you to confirm if you want to continue to work in the currently accessed section, or return to the section the new cross section link originated from.
