Please review Choice Field Basics before diving into creating custom choice fields. There are 2 types of choice fields: Exclusive & Inclusive.

Types of Choice Fields
Choice fields are fundamentally either exclusive or inclusive.
Exclusive Choices - "Single Select"
An exclusive single select choice allows for only 1 of the options to be selected and is indicated by circular "radio" buttons as pictured below.
Exclusive choices are labeled as "Single Select" in the Choices panel of the Document Manager.
Inclusive Choices - "Multiple Select"
An inclusive multiple select choice allows for multiple selections to be made via an and/or statement and is indicated by square selection boxes as pictured below.
Inclusive choices are labeled as "Multiple Select" in the Choices panel of the Document Manager.
Creating Custom Exclusive "Single Select" Choice Fields
Follow the steps below to create a custom exclusive Single Select choice.
- From the active section, click on the Document Manager tab located on the right side of the document window.
- Click Choices from the Document Manager.
The Choices panel will open with the inclusive "Multiple Select" option as the default.
- From the Choices panel, select Single Select from the dropdown menu to create a new exclusive choice list.
- The first option in the new choice field will appear. The default is the Fill in the Blank option.
Click the "+" sign to select an option type. For this example the Custom Text option has been selected.
- Upon selecting the Custom Text option, the entry filed will appear with direction to "type here" as displayed below.
- Enter the desired text to appear as the first choice in the list. The order of the choices can be changed at any time. In this example the term Wood has been entered into the first choice field.
Click the "+" sign next to the second option to repeat the steps for entering custom text.
- Continue the process to complete a choice menu. In the example below Wood, Steel, Plastic, Vinyl, and Copper have been entered as custom text. A fill in the blank has been added as the last option.
As you build the choice option list a preview of the list will appear at the bottom of the choices panel.
- If necessary, reorder the list by simply dragging and dropping an option into the desired place. In the images below the #2 option of Steel has been dragged and dropped into the first position.
The Choice List Preview window will display the updated order.
- When the choice list has been created and appears in the desired order, grab and drag the Drag Choice button to the desired location in the section document.
The choice list will appear in the desired location within the document.

Creating Custom Inclusive "Multiple Select" Choice Fields
Follow the steps below to create a custom inclusive choice.
- From the active section, click on the Document Manager tab located on the right side of the document window.
- Click Choices from the Document Manager.
- From the Choices panel, select from the dropdown menu to create a Multiple Select choice list.
- Select AND or OR to create the new choice list.
- The first option in the new choice field will appear. Click the "+" sign to select an option type. For this example the Custom Text option has been selected.
- Upon selecting the Custom Text option, the entry filed will appear with direction to "type here" as displayed below.
- Enter the desired text to appear as the first choice in the list. The order of the choices can be changed at any time. In this example the term Wood has been entered into the first choice field.
Click the "+" sign next to the second option to repeat the steps for entering custom text.
- Continue the process to complete a choice menu. In the example below Wood, Steel, Plastic, Vinyl, and Copper have been entered as custom text. A fill in the blank has been added as the last option. Note that this inclusive choice list has been created as an "OR" list. Multiple selection can be made and "or" will appear between the selected choices.

- Select any choice list option to appear in the paragraph. In the example below the "or" statement is used to identify the type of choice list.
