Importing a Section from an Existing Project

Overview

Users can import a section or sections from an existing active project or Office Master into their project.

Importing a Section from an Existing Project

Follow these steps to import a section from an existing project.

1. From the project sections list, click the red New button. 
   
   

2. Choose Import from Project.
   
   

3. A project selection window will appear. Here, you will have the options select between a list of active projects and your list of available Office Masters.
   
   

4. Once you selected to view Projects or Office Masters, the list of projects will appear. To select the appropriate project or office master, either locate it on the list or utilize the search function. Searching can use either project name or System ID. 
   
   

5. Once you have located the appropriate project, a list of the possible sections will appear to choose. It is important to note that there is a limit of 50 sections at one time.
   
   
   
   "Display active sections only" is the default view and will display only the sections that are active in the selected projects. Deselecting this option will access any sections that have been opened in the selected project previously.
   
   "Include Comments" is deselected by default. By selecting this option, any comments that are in the selected section(s) will be imported with the rest of the content.
   
   The "Select All" option will select all the available sections based on the current view.

6. Select the section or sections you wish to import. The image below shows the 033000-RIB-Cast in Place Concrete section selected. The Import button will become active and display the number of selected sections for importing.
   
   

7. Click the Import button to begin the import process. The "Verify Before Import" window will appear. You will be notified that the section(s) being imported may already exist in the current project and will be overwritten.
   
   

8. In most cases, this is the intention so you will click the Begin Importing Sections button.
   
   

You receive notification that the import has begun and another when it is complete.

 

It is important to note that Reference Standards imported from other projects or office masters, will update the Reference Title and Edition to match the existing project. It will not retain any updates to the Reference Standards from the importing project and may need to be updated after import.
